Dr. Melanie J. Buttross is an ophthalmologist affiliated with Sibley Memorial Hospital. Dr. Buttross is board certified in ophthalmology and practices out of Eye Associates of Washington, D.C. located in Washington, D.C. and Vienna, Va. She is also affiliated with Washington Hospital Center, where she is involved in resident education, Children’s National Medical Center and George Washington University Medical Center.
Dr. Buttross is a corneal specialist that focuses on cataracts, contact lenses, laser vision correction and comprehensive ophthalmology.
Dr. Buttross earned her undergraduate degree and her medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine. She completed a residency in ophthalmology at George Washington University Hospital, as well as a corneal and external disease fellowship at the University of Florida.
Dr. Buttross is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Medical Society of the District of Columbia and donates her skills and time to Catholic charities. She has been named a Top MD by Consumers’ Checkbook Magazine and a Super Doctor by the Washington Post.
