Background
Dr. Lawrence Widerlite is a gastroenterologist affiliated with Sibley Memorial Hospital, as well as an assistant professor of medicine at Georgetown University Hospital. Dr. Widerlite is certified in gastroenterology and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He practices out of Capital Digestive Care’s Metropolitan Gastroenterology Group, located in Bethesda, Md., Chevy Chase, Md. and Washington, D.C.
Dr. Widerlite earned his undergraduate degree from Brooklyn College and his medical degree from State University of New York Downstate College of Medicine. He completed residencies in internal medicine at New York Hospital and Georgetown University. Dr. Widerlite served in the United State Public Health Service at the National Institutes of Health for two years, conducting oncology and molecular pharmacology research. He continued on to complete a fellowship in gastroenterology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Dr. Widerlite has previously served as a member of Sibley Memorial Hospital’s Executive Committee and as the assistant chief of gastroenterology.
Dr. Widerlite is a member of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America, the Washington Society of Gastroenterology and the American Gastroenterological Association.
Dr. Widerlite has published numerous articles on gastroenterology topics.
