Background
Dr. Jonas R. (J.R) Rudzki is a clinical associate professor of orthopaedic surgery at The George Washington University School of Medicine and an orthopaedic surgeon at Sibley Memorial Hospital. He practices out of Washington Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine, located in Sibley Memorial Hospital’s Medical Building and Chevy Chase, MD.
Dr. Rudzki has an expertise in sports medicine, with a focus on conditions and injuries of the shoulder, knee and elbow.
Dr. Rudzki earned his undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University and his medical degree from George Washington University School of Medicine. He completed a general surgery and orthopaedic surgery internship at the Barnes-Jewish Hospital, as well as an orthopaedic surgery residency.
Dr. Rudzki is on the Evaluation Committee of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the AAOS Board of Councilors. He is a member of the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons, American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, American Orthopaedic Association Emerging Leaders Program, Arthroscopy Association of North American, Washington Orthopaedic Society, William Osler Medical Society, and International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee and Orthopaedic Surgery. He is also a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. Dr. Rudzki has been named a Top Doctor by Washingtonian Magazine, as well as a U.S. News & World Report/Castle Connolly Top Doctor.
Dr. Rudzki has research interests in rotator cuff injuries and surgical repairs, shoulder injury in overhead athletes, clavicle fractures, cartilage biology and transplantation and trauma outcomes research. He has contributed to numerous publications, book chapters, abstracts and conducted research, which earned him awards and nominations such as the E.O.A. Founder’s Award for Research and the Charles S. Neer Award Nomination. In addition, Dr. Rudzki has lectured and presented at national and international conferences. Dr. Rudzki is currently a consultant reviewer for the American Journal of Sports Medicine, the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery and the Journal of Knee Surgery.
