Dr. Cherie Q. Marfori is a gynecologist affiliated with Sibley Memorial Hospital and George Washington University Hospital, where she is the fellowship director of the AAGL Minimally-Invasive Gynecologic Surgery Program and an assistant professor of obstetrics and gynecology for the School of Medicine. She is also a team member of GWUMFA’s Menstrual Disorders Center and The Pelvic Floor Center. Dr. Marfori is certified in obstetrics and gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She practices out of the GWUMFA Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in Washington, D.C.
Dr. Marfori has an expertise in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, as well as in-office procedures such as flexible and rigid hysteroscopy, ultrasound, ESSURE© placement, colposcopy and LEEP procedures. She also has experience treating fibroids, endometriosis, abnormal bleeding, abnormal pap smears, pelvic pain, Asherman’s syndrome, symptomatic menopause and pelvic organ prolapse. Dr. Marfori was one of the first Washington-area physicians to perform a single-incision laparoscopic hysterectomy.
Dr. Marfori earned her undergraduate degree from Wake Forest University and her medical degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine. She completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Massachusetts. Dr. Marfori also completed the first fellowship in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery at George Washington University School of Medicine.
Dr. Marfori is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, as well as a member of the American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology and the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists.
Dr. Marfori has presented clinical research projects at national meetings of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the American Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics and the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists.
