Dr. Craig R. Dufresne is a plastic surgeon affiliated with Sibley Memorial Hospital and Inova Fairfax Hospital, as well as a clinical professor of plastic surgery at Georgetown University Medical Center, a clinical associate professor of plastic surgery at Johns Hopkins University and director of the craniofacial program at Inova Fairfax Hospital for Children. He has a private practice in Fairfax, Va.

Dr. Dufresne has an expertise in aesthetic and cosmetic plastic surgery, pediatric craniofacial plastic surgery, and facial plastic and reconstructive surgery. 

Dr. Dufresne earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Vermont and his medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He completed a general surgery residency at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, followed by a plastic surgery fellowship at the Institute of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery of New York University Medical Center. Dr. Dufresne also completed a fellowship in craniofacial and microvascular surgery at New York University Medical Center. He has served as the section chief of the division of plastic surgery at Inova Fairfax Hospital; assistant professor of neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins University; director of the facial rehabilitation center at the Children’s Hospital in Baltimore and Johns Hopkins Hospital; director of the ear deformity clinic for the Johns Hopkins Hospital; chief of plastic surgery service at Loch Raven VA Medical Center; and attending consultant at the University of Maryland and Maryland Institute of Emergency Medical Services. 

Dr. Dufresne is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the International Craniomaxillofacial Society. He is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, the American Medical Association, the American Cleft Lip and Palate Society, the John Staige Davis Society and the American Society of Maxillofacial Surgeons. 

Dr. Dufresne has been repeatedly named one of America’s Top Doctors by Castle Connolly, as well as a Top Doctor in the Washington, D.C., Baltimore and Washington-Baltimore areas. Consumers’ Checkbook Magazine has named him a Top MD and the Washington Post has named him a Super Doctor. Dr. Dufresne has also been named a Top MD by Washingtonian Magazine and a Top Plastic Surgeon by Northern Virginia Magazine.
