Background
Dr. Ali Al-Attar is a plastic surgeon affiliated with Sibley Memorial Hospital, Holy Cross Hospital, Inova Fairfax Hospital and Inova Alexandria Hospital. He practices out of the Affiliates in Plastic Surgery, located in Rockville, Maryland; Alexandria, Virginia; and McLean, Virginia.
Dr. Al-Attar has an expertise in breast reconstruction after cancer and aesthetic surgery of the face, nose, breast and abdomen.
Dr. Al-Attar earned his medical degree at Georgetown University School of Medicine, where he also completed a residency in plastic surgery. He completed a fellowship in aesthetic plastic surgery at the Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital and returned to Georgetown University Hospital to complete a fellowship in breast plastic surgery.
Dr. Al-Attar has contributed to over 20 peer-reviewed articles in various journals, including Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, New England Journal of Medicine and Annals of Plastic Surgery. He has also presented his work at national meetings and received grant support for his research from the Department of the Army’s Breast Cancer Research Program and the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America Foundation.
