Background

Dr. Jamie McElrath Schwartz is an associate professor of anesthesiology and critical care medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She is a leader in both the Heart Center and the Pediatric Critical Care Unit, where she uses her skills in team and program building to create systems to care for critically ill children; particularly those with heart disease.

Dr. Schwartz specializes in perioperative care of children with congenital heart disease, offering both pediatric cardiac critical care and anesthesiology services.

Dr. Schwartz graduated from Thomas Jefferson University Medical School and completed a residency in general pediatrics at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children, where she later served as Chief Resident. After working in private practice in Newark, Delaware, she returned to pediatric subspecialty training, completing her anesthesia residency as well as a fellowship in pediatric critical care and anesthesiology at Johns Hopkins Hospital.

She is passionate about building teams and systems to deliver excellent clinical care through education and scientific discovery.
