Peter Louis Gehlbach, MD, PhD, is Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at the Johns Hopkins Wilmer Eye Institute, and the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Whiting School of Engineering.

Dr. Gehlbach specializes in performing complex vitreo-retinal surgery and in caring for patients referred with vitreo-retinal disease. He is dedicated to mentoring the next generation of retinal surgeons. His grant-supported research is directed at discovering new treatments for blinding eye disease, and has led to numerous frequently cited published works, and important patents advancing the field of ophthalmic microsurgery.

Dr. Gehlbach received his is MD from University of Vermont, and PhD in Cell and Integrative Physiology from the University of Minnesota. more
