Background

Pamela Ouyang is a professor of medicine and director of the Johns Hopkins Women’s Cardiovascular Health Center, located at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. The vision of the center is to optimize cardiovascular health in all women through education, early identification of disease and state-of-the-art treatment.

Dr. Ouyang’s research focuses on differences in the impact of risk factors on cardiovascular disease in men and women, the relationship between sex hormones and cardiovascular properties, and ways to improve the assessment and management of cardiovascular disease in women across their lifespan. She is committed to assisting young investigators to develop research skills and opportunities in research in women’s health and in studies of the biology of sex differences.

Dr. Ouyang received her medical school training at St. Bartholomew’s Hospital Medical College in London, England, followed by residency and fellowship training in cardiology at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. She joined the faculty of the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where she is now a professor of medicine in the Division of Cardiology.
