Dr. Jimmie Sylvester is a professor emeritus of medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. His areas of clinical expertise include pulmonary disease and critical care medicine.
Dr. Sylvester earned his M.D. from the Stanford University School of Medicine. He completed his residency and performed a fellowship in pulmonary diseases at Johns Hopkins. He also performed a fellowship in environmental health sciences at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
His research interests include calcium signaling in hypoxic pulmonary vasoconstriction, chronic hypoxia and pulmonary vascular smooth muscle, and pulmonary arterial responses to hypoxia.
