Dr. Thomas Lloyd specializes in neuromuscular disorders in adults, with a particular interest in neurogenetics and motor neuron diseases including amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), motor neuropathies, and muscle diseases such as muscular dystrophy.

Dr. Lloyd's research interests include understanding the mechanisms of motor neuron degeneration using simple genetic model systems. Current investigations focus on the role of genes that regulate transport of organelles and survival signals along motor nerve axons. Dr. Lloyd is developing genetic and pharmacologic screens to identify novel drug targets for motor neuron diseases.

Dr. Thomas Lloyd received his M.D. and Ph.D. from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. He then came to Johns Hopkins Hospital for residency training in Neurology, after which he completed a fellowship in Neuromuscular Medicine. more

Patient Ratings & Comments

The Patient Rating score is an average of all responses to physician related questions on the national CG-CAHPS Medical Practice patient experience survey through Press Ganey. Responses are measured on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the best score. Comments are also gathered from our CG-CAHPS Medical Practice Survey through Press Ganey and displayed in their entirety. Patients are de-identified for confidentiality and patient privacy.
