Background
Shari Lawson, M.D., an assistant professor of obstetrics and gynecology at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and medical director of the ambulatory OB/GYN practice at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, values respect, integrity, quality and compassion in regard to caring for her patients.
After contemplating various specialties, Dr. Lawson chose OB/GYN because it offers the opportunity to combine medical knowledge and surgical skills, and provide comprehensive care to women of all ages. She completed an OB/GYN residency at Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions, and joined a large private practice in northeastern Maryland, before joining the faculty at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in 2008.
At Johns Hopkins Bayview, Dr. Lawson has dedicated herself to delivering comprehensive care to girls and women throughout their lifespan. In her role as medical director, she has effectively managed a busy urban practice while cultivating an environment of service, safety and excellence. She remains committed to the Hopkins mission: research, teaching and patient care. Her research interests include medical education and working to reduce or eliminate health care disparities.
