Parvez M. Lokhandwala is an Assistant Professor of Pathology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He is the Medical Director of the Hemapheresis service at the Johns Hopkins Hospital.

Dr. Lokhandwala earned his medical degree (M.B.B.S.) from M. S. University of Baroda in India, followed by a master’s degree in Molecular Genetics from University of Leicester. He received a Ph.D. in Genetics from Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine. He completed residency training in Clinical Pathology at Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine, followed by fellowship training in Molecular Genetic Pathology and Blood Bank/Transfusion Medicine at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

Clinically, Dr. Lokhandwala attends on the Transfusion Medicine and the Molecular Diagnostics services at Johns Hopkins Hospital. His area of clinical expertise include the use of apheresis technology in the treatment of many diseases.

His research focuses on developing novel molecular diagnostic tests in transfusion medicine and testing novel blood products to improve the safety of blood transfusions. more
