Research Summary

Dr. Kanarek’s expertise is in preparing data for use by various audiences, combining knowledge of disease etiology, health services, and statistics, and linking population-based data to program use. She also teaches graduate students the applications of epidemiology to public health. She directs the Maryland Cigarette Restitution Fund grants to Johns Hopkins. In addition, she has developed an application and peer-review process for selecting awardees, organized seminar and Longrifles sessions for cancer investigators throughout the medical institutions, summarized programmatic activity for internal use and the funder, and assures coordination with the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene on a number of practice projects.
