Michael Aaron Edidin, Ph.D.

  • Joint Appointment in Pathology

Research Interests

Membrane dynamics and organization in cells

Background

Michael Edidin is a professor of biology at Johns Hopkins University. He is also an adjunct professor of medicine, of materials science in the Whiting School of Engineering and of pathology. His research uses cell biology, biophysics, biochemistry and immunology to study membrane dynamics and organization in cells ranging from lymphocytes to epithelial cells.

His team is currently engaged in investigating the clustering of T cell receptors for the antigen TCR.

Dr. Edidin received his Ph.D. from the University College London, followed by postdoctoral work at both the Weizmann Institute and Harvard Medical School.

He is a fellow of University College London, the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the Biophysical Society. His work has been recognized with a Professional Achievement Award from the University of Chicago Alumni Association in 2009.
