Background
Dr. Mary C. Dupont is the director for the Center for Pelvic Floor Disorders at Sibley Memorial Hospital and is affiliated with Suburban Hospital as well. She has a private practice in Chevy Chase, Md.
Dr. Dupont was the first surgeon to perform the newer, minimally invasive sling procedures for urinary incontinence in the Washington metropolitan area. She has performed over 1,000 sling operations and is also a surgical technique innovator in the field of pelvic reconstructive surgery. Dr. Dupont has performed hundreds of prolapse repairs. Surgeons have traveled from around the world to observe and learn her techniques.
Dr. Dupont earned her medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine. She completed a residency in general surgery at New Britain General Hospital, followed by a residency in urology at the University of Wisconsin Hospital. Dr. Dupont also completed a fellowship in neuro-urology at the University of Virginia and a fellowship in female urology and pelvic reconstructive surgery at the University of California Los Angeles. She previously served as a Major in the United States Army, receiving several medals of distinction during her service treating war casualties.
Dr. Dupont is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, as well as a member of the American Urological Association, the American Urogynecologic Society, the International Continence Society and the Society of Urodynamics, Female Pelvic Medicine and Urogenital Reconstruction.
Dr. Dupont has been named a Top Doctor by Washingtonian magazine, Consumers’ Checkbook magazine and Castle Connolly. She is recognized as one of the Washington, D.C. area’s top Female Urologist/Urogynecologist and has received the Ferdinand C. Valentine Fellowship, as well as the American Foundation of Urologic Disease Award.
