Dr. Viola specializes in pediatric anesthesiology at Johns Hopkins All Children’s. He joined the hospital staff in 2020.
Dr. Viola was previously a pediatric anesthesiologist at Nemours Children’s Hospital in Orlando. Before that, he served as vice chief of pediatric anesthesia in the Division of Anesthesia at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital at Memorial Hospital in Hollywood, Florida.
Earlier he was also an assistant professor of anesthesiology at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital (Cincinnati, Ohio), and Texas Children’s Hospital (Houston, Texas).
He earned his medical degree from Universita’ Cattolica del Sacro Cuore di Milano in Rome, Italy. He completed a pediatric residency, then a neonatology fellowship, followed by a residency in anesthesiology and critical care medicine at Universita’ Cattolica del Sacro Cuore and Policlinico Gemelli Hospital in Rome. He then completed an anesthesiology residency at University of Florida, and a pediatric anesthesiology and critical care medicine fellowship at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. He also performed as a pediatrician at the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit of Gemelli Hospital in Rome from 1996 through 2003.
His fields of interest are fetal anesthesia, acute pain management, quality and improvement in anesthesia, simulation, and education.
