Dr. Ko Pen Wang is a pulminologist in the Baltimore, Maryland area specializing in interventional pulmonology, pulmonary disease and critical care medicine. A pioneer in interventional pulmonology, he was the first to describe the transbronchial needle aspiration (TBNA) technique in the United States, which revolutionized the diagnosis and staging of lung cancer in patients.

He specializes in advanced airway diagnostic procedures, which includes TBNA, bronchoscopy, and endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS). more

Dr. Wang’s primary research focus is to provide bronchoscopic education to fellows, residents, and medical students to improve the yield of proper lung cancer diagnosis and staging in patients. He also has special interest in international outreach, with the goal to advance the science of interventional pulmonology and minimally invasive diagnostic procedures.
