Background
Dr. Katherine Lamond is the Medical Director of the Johns Hopkins Center for Bariatrics Surgery at Sibley Memorial Hospital and Assistant Professor of Surgery for Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. She specializes in laparoscopic bariatric surgery, and performs the Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass, Sleeve Gastrectomy and Adjustable Gastric Banding at Sibley. She is also a surgeon with Johns Hopkins Surgery at Sibley, where she practices general surgery and advanced laparoscopic surgery.
Dr. Lamond grew up in Maryland and attended Dartmouth College for her undergraduate education, before moving back to the area to attend Georgetown University School of Medicine. Her internship and residency in General Surgery were completed at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. She then completed a fellowship at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery.
More recently, Dr. Lamond served as Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of Maryland School of Medicine from 2012-2015, prior to transitioning her practice to Sibley Memorial Hospital.
She is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and is active in both the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.
