Background
Doctor Janofsky is currently an attending physician on the Hopkins Community Psychiatry Service Outpatient Service.
Doctor Janofsky directs the Hopkins Psychiatry and Law service. He consultants with other attendings and residents on psychiatry and law issues, primarily suicide and violence risk assessment and clinical competency. Doctor Janofsky supervises Hopkins residents (along with residents from the University of Maryland) at the Circuit Court Medical Office teaching site for the residents' required and elective rotation in forensic psychiatry.
Doctor Janofsky supervises all involuntary civil commitment hearings at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. His primary current research interest is focused on patient safety by reducing inpatient suicide risk through improved human factors on psychiatry inpatient units. Doctor Janofsky also aids the Department in administrative compliance for seclusion/restraint, EMTALA, competency and other psychiatry and law issues.
Doctor Janofsky is the current Medial Director and is a Past President of the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law. He is a current member of the Forensic Psychiatry Committee of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
