Dr. Emily Fretz is a PICU hospitalist at Johns Hopkins. She went to undergraduate at Goshen College in Goshen, Indiana where she received a BA in mathematics and biochemistry/molecular biology. She earned her medical degree from Saint Louis University School of Medicine. She found her love of medical education and pediatric critical care at the University of Michigan Pediatric Residency Program. At the University of Michigan she completed research using database mining for epidemiology of hospitalizations for asthma in the pediatric population. She also received several awards for her medical education of residents and medical students in addition to her compassion and empathy with families in the pediatric ICU. Her senior superlative was “the person you most want running your own code.”
Currently, she works in the pediatric ICU as a hospitalist and is working on publishing her research from residency. Dr. Fretz’s interests include medical education, pediatric end-of-life care, and physician mental health and wellness.
