Elyse J. McGlumphy, M.D., is a glaucoma specialist seeing patients at the Wilmer Eye Institute’s locations in Baltimore, Frederick and Lutherville, Maryland. She specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of conditions including open angle glaucoma, narrow angle glaucoma, glaucoma associated with other eye disorders or previous trauma, as well as cataracts.

Dr. McGlumphy received her medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine. She completed residency training in ophthalmology at the University of Maryland where she was chief resident, and subspecialty fellowship in glaucoma at the Wilmer Eye Institute. more

Research Summary

Dr. McGlumphy is an accomplished researcher who is current researching a variety of topics related to glaucoma disease including the influence of mindfulness-based stress reduction in lowering of intraocular pressure in glaucoma patients and the determinants of visual field loss in clinically controlled glaucoma patients. She is also examining the outcomes of newer minimally invasive glaucoma procedures. She is collaborating with other researchers in better understanding intraocular pressure variation and the role for home IOP monitoring.
