Research & Publications

Research Summary

Dr. Pearse’s primary research interests have been on the pathophysiologic and molecular mechanisms behind the increased leakiness of lung blood vessels to water and protein that occurs when the lung is injured by variety of clinical insults. His work in this regard utilized animal and cell culture models of acute lung injuries such as transient interruptions of lung blood flow, severe pneumonia and malaria. Dr. Pearse has over 80 publications, reviews and book chapters, most of which focus on acute lung injury or pulmonary thromboembolism.
