Benjamin C. Chaon, M.D., is a uveitis and medical retina specialist at the Wilmer Eye Institute’s locations in Odenton, Bethesda, and Baltimore, Maryland. His primary focus is in the medical and surgical management of uveitis and ocular inflammatory diseases, such as iritis, scleritis, retinitis, and ocular infectious diseases as well as the medical treatment of retinal diseases, such as macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy. He has been actively involved in numerous NIH-sponsored clinical trials. more

Research & Publications

Research Summary

Dr. Chaon is committed to improving the quality of life for patients with uveitis and retinal diseases. His research is focused on understanding the fundamental immune mechanisms which underlie the development of inflammation in the eye.

Advances in our understanding of the pathogenesis of uveitis are likely to lead to new diagnostic and therapeutic options for patients with vision loss due to ocular inflammatory diseases.
