Dr. Anita R. Kulkarni is a plastic surgeon affiliated with Sibley Memorial Hospital, Suburban Hospital, Shady Grove Adventist Hospital and Holy Cross Hospital. Dr. Kulkarni is board certified in plastic and reconstructive surgery. She practices out of Plastic Surgery Institute of Washington, located in North Bethesda, Maryland.

Dr. Kulkarni has clinical interests in cosmetic surgery for women and breast reconstruction after mastectomy. She has expertise in perforator flaps, one-stage direct-to-implant reconstruction and oncoplastic breast surgery.

Dr. Kulkarni earned her bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University and her medical degree from University of Chicago Hospitals. She completed a residency in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery at University of Michigan Health System, where she served as chief administrative resident. Dr. Kulkarni went on to complete a fellowship in breast reconstruction techniques at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.

Dr. Kulkarni has earned awards for both research and teaching. She is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
