Background
Dr. Gupte’s research is focused on the intersection of infectious and chronic lung diseases in low- and middle-income settings. He leads several Indo-US collaborative studies to describe the epidemiology and pathogenesis of lung impairment in Tuberculosis/HIV/diabetes, measure its impact on poor clinical outcomes, and identify therapeutic and programmatic interventions to improve post-tuberculosis lung health and longevity. Dr. Gupte is an active investigator in several multi-national research consortia such as the RePORT International Tuberculosis Research consortium, AIDS Clinical Trials Group, and the IeDEA network. Dr. Gupte is a 2017 Fogarty Fellow and recipient of the Arthur M. Dannenberg, Jr., Award for excellence in Tuberculosis research. He completed his medical training in India and received his Master’s and Doctoral training in Global Disease Epidemiology and Control at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
