Background
Dr. Edward F. Dunne is the chief of urology at Sibley Memorial Hospital, as well as a member of the clinical staff at Georgetown University. He practices out of Foxhall Urology in Washington, D.C. Dr. Dunne also performs outpatient surgery at Massachusetts Avenue Surgery Center.
Dr. Dunne has an expertise in urologic oncology and complicated stone diseases.
Dr. Dunne earned his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine. He completed general surgery and urology residencies at Georgetown University Hospital, where he was chief resident, had the opportunity to treat kidney stone patients with one of the first lithotripsy machines in the United States, authored a chapter on urologic surgery in a major surgical textbook and received a research grant for prostate cancer. Dr. Dunne also completed his urology fellowship at Georgetown University Hospital. He went on to work as the chief of urology and chief of surgery at Sarasota Memorial Hospital.
Dr. Dunne has been repeatedly named a Top MD by Washingtonian Magazine, as well as a Top MD by Consumers’ Checkbook Magazine. Dr. Dunne is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the American Urology Association, the American Medical Society and the D.C. Medical Society.
Dr. Dunne has been involved in various research studies and contributed to numerous publications regarding urological disease.
