Past Department Directors

The Department of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery got its start in medicine and at Johns Hopkins much like the specialties of urology, orthopedic surgery, neurosurgery, and radiology. The Johns Hopkins Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery has been delivering expert patient care and research innovation for over a century. Founded in 1914 by Dr. Samuel Crowe, the department grew from a small group of ear, nose, and throat physicians to an international leader in otolaryngology and head and neck cancer care.
