Kimberlee Sherbrooke, chief operating officer for the Office of Johns Hopkins Physicians and vice president of Johns Hopkins Medicine, has joined the American Medical Group Association (AMGA) board of directors. Her yearlong appointment began Jan. 1.

“I value the unique opportunity AMGA provides to learn from integrated health systems and from my fellow academic practices,” says Sherbrooke, one of four new members of AMGA’s 11-person board.

AMGA, with more than 175,000 physicians in its member organizations, was founded in 1950 as the American Association of Medical Clinics. It became the American Medical Group Association in 2016 and added the tagline “Advancing High Performing Health” to better reflect its work promoting value-driven, patient-centered care.

“AMGA’s board represents the nation’s highest-performing medical groups and integrated systems of care, who understand how optimizing care delivery improves patient outcomes and supports a value-based care system,” says Jerry Penso, AMGA president and chief executive officer. The new board members’ “expertise will be instrumental to AMGA in its mission to help members improve population health, lower costs and improve care quality,” Penso says.
