Attend a Telemedicine Strategic Brainstorming Session July 9 in East Baltimore

Date: 06/19/2018

Johns Hopkins Telemedicine will host its first Telemedicine Strategic Brainstorming Session for the Johns Hopkins Medicine community on July 9 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Chevy Chase Bank Auditorium in East Baltimore. Physicians, other providers and administrative staff members are invited to learn about initiatives taking place across the health system, hear about Epic’s current and upcoming capabilities to support virtual care efforts, and brainstorm ways to further the institution’s priority remote-care projects.

If you can’t attend the event in person, you can watch the livestream via this link.

Ingrid Zimmer-Galler, executive clinical director at Johns Hopkins Telemedicine and associate professor of ophthalmology, and Rebecca Canino, administrative director at Johns Hopkins Telemedicine, will offer an overview of the state of telehealth efforts at Johns Hopkins. Kip Price, who is the Epic telehealth product lead, will provide an update on Epic’s telemedicine capabilities.

Brainstorming workshops will focus on four priority care areas:

  • Urgent care video visits — creating a web portal for patients to receive on-demand urgent care with clinicians on-call.
  • CareLink and virtual care — using the CareLink portal to coordinate care and provide telemedicine services to patients in partner organizations such as skilled nursing facilities and health departments
  • System specialty teleconsults through the Hopkins Access Line (HAL) — leveraging HAL to connect referring physicians to consulting specialists for inpatient bedside video visits for treatment and transfer assessment.
  • Inpatient care monitoring — exploring how Epic can be used to monitor inpatients for safety, triage and treatment.
