An HbA1c test is a simple blood test that shows your average level of blood sugar over the past two to three months. Home blood glucose tests only measure levels at the moment the test is taken.

An A1c test can show you a better overall picture of how you are controlling your diabetes. It can tell you if your plan is working or if you need to make changes.
