Artifact Health Selected by Johns Hopkins Medicine to Bring Innovative CDI Solution to Market
Mobilizing the physician query process with Artifact Health
Release Date: July 19, 2016
Artifact Health Inc., a leading innovator in physician-centric clinical documentation improvement (CDI) solutions, today announced a collaboration with Johns Hopkins Medicine to bring to market a cloud-based mobile application for physicians that leverages the expertise of CDI specialists and medical coders to capture a more complete picture of a patient’s health.
Howard County General Hospital, a member of Johns Hopkins Medicine, will serve as a pilot site for Artifact’s physician query management and education platform. The Johns Hopkins Technology Innovation Center will integrate the Artifact platform with Johns Hopkins’ patient record system. This will make it easier for physicians to respond to clinical questions from CDI specialists and medical coders, which is expected to result in higher-quality documentation, proper reimbursement and more accurate publicly reported quality outcomes. Future plans include integrating the technology across the Johns Hopkins Health System.
“Under Maryland’s unique all-payer system, we thoroughly understand the importance of strong physician engagement in CDI programs to support quality-based reimbursement models,” says Peter Greene, M.D., chief medical information officer for Johns Hopkins Medicine. “We welcome opportunities to enhance our efficiencies in ways that are convenient to physicians.”
“Entering into collaborative agreements that address challenges in health care, such as quality reporting and costs, is a high priority,” says Mark Shaver, vice president of business development and strategic alliances for Johns Hopkins Medicine. “We are pleased to work with Artifact Health, which is poised to make valuable contributions to the CDI and medical coding industries.”
“We are honored to work with the clinicians and administration of Johns Hopkins Medicine,” says Marisa MacClary, CEO of Artifact Health. “Their interest and investment in Artifact’s platform corroborates the value and benefit this technology will bring to physician practices and hospitals across the country.”
