Neuroscience Community Innovation Council
To help strengthen Baltimore City communities Johns Hopkins is devoting resources, energy, caring and innovation to our neighbors through initiatives such as HopkinsLocal.
Individual faculty and staff members in the Departments of Neurology, Neurosurgery and Neurosciences are also dedicated to connecting and contributing to the city. In that spirit, the Neuroscience Community Innovation Council was initiated by neurologist Amanda Brown in 2015.
This volunteer group is made up of physicians, administrators and community activists. Together, they form programs that bring neurological services into the community, support local students and residents, and inspire interest in employment at Johns Hopkins.
“We all work here, and some on the committee grew up in this area. As neuroscientists we may have some insights into how environment can affect people's destinies and lives.” ––Amanda Brown, Assistant Professor of Neurology and Chair of the Neuroscience Community Innovation Council
Baltimore Ravens Gameday Event at JHH Promotes Community Connections
The Baltimore Ravens vs. the Kansas City Chiefs gameday watch party on Dec. 9 was a party with purpose. The event connected staff and volunteers from Thread, a Baltimore-based nonprofit, with community members and Johns Hopkins Medicine leadership, clinical and non-clinical staff, and their families.
