Cerebrospinal Fluid (CSF) and Blood Biomarkers in TM

Hopkins staff working in a lab

Studies of biomarkers for evaluation of transverse myelitis (TM) are critical parts of the investigations of the disease and its pathogenic mechanisms.

Studies of CSF and blood are currently underway by researchers at Johns Hopkins and other institutions for identification of biomarkers suitable in the diagnosis and follow-up of patients with TM. The JHTMC prospectively collects and stores blood and cerebrospinal fluid samples of patients both in the acute and convalescent phases for its use in these research efforts.
