Who will take care of me?
The prostate cancer treatment team at the Johns Hopkins Brady Urological Institute is committed to providing you with the best possible outcome.
Your treatment team is composed of:
- Urologists and surgeons
- Radiation oncologists
- Nursing staff
Most of these experts work exclusively with prostate cancer patients. They know the circumstances that make prostate cancer patients unique and work to address any questions and concerns you may have.
When Experience Matters
Surgery is often part of your treatment plan and you can take comfort in knowing that our surgeons are on the forefront of innovation. We continue to revolutionize prostate surgery with procedures that minimize side effects and help maintain your quality of life. These procedures, including the anatomical approach to radical prostatectomy and the robotic-assisted radical prostatectomy, can preserve the nerves responsible for continence and sexual function. The anatomical approach to radical prostatectomy was developed and perfected here at Johns Hopkins and has been performed since 1982.
Over 20,000 of those life-saving prostate procedures have been performed at Johns Hopkins since then - and today, we perform an average of 1,200 prostatectomy surgeries each year. Our prostate cancer surgeons skillfully perform open radical prostatectomy, minimally invasive and robot-assisted prostate surgeries. We perform more prostate procedures yearly than all other hospitals in Maryland combined.
