Skin Cancer and Melanoma

Screening

Melanomas are the most deadly type of skin cancer. The Melanoma Program at Johns Hopkins offers information about warning signs and diagnosis of melanoma.

Guidelines for cancer screening change over time as new evidence becomes available. For skin cancer screening, the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force is in the process of updating its recommendations. Currently, there is no recommendation for routine screening in the general population.

However, if you would like schedule an appointment with a Johns Hopkins expert regarding skin cancer, including melanoma, call the department of dermatology at 410-955-5933.
