A note from our Johns Hopkins Camp Liaison – Click here
Camp Sunrise is a week long, overnight camp for pediatric oncology patients and survivors. At camp, we strive to provide children affected by cancer with a normal camping experience among their peers who have also experienced cancer treatment. Campers often say “Camp Sunrise is the best week of the year.” At Johns Hopkins, we believe kids should be kids — especially kids with cancer. Camp Sunrise helps to make that a reality.
Since its inception in 1986, Camp Sunrise has combined an exciting camp experience with professional medical support, which creates limitless opportunities for pediatric oncology patients to be normal kids again for a week. Amidst the camp fires, crafts, and sports and games, campers are given the chance to to establish strong peer relationships with others who have experienced cancer, gain independence from the regimen of cancer treatment, and enhance self-confidence by trying new activities with camp friends, both new and old.
