Read associated masking FAQ, and watch a video explaining the change. You can also read guidance on cloth face masks.
- Requirements for Fit-Testing – JHM employees who provide patient care in areas that require fit-testing for an N95 or other type of respirator must shave certain types of facial hair or beards that interfere with a proper respirator seal before being fit-tested. Please see this diagram to determine which types of facial hair or beards prevent a respirator from sealing properly. If a staff member has sincerely held religious beliefs or practices that indicate shaving facial hair would cause undue hardship to the employee, the Johns Hopkins Health System HR policy HR916 provides for reasonable accommodations. Requests for religious accommodations should be made to your manager or supervisor, and will be considered in accordance with the policy.
