Food Drop Serves More Than 400 Rural Residents
Priority Partners has a long-serving Community Health Advocate program, designed to provide outreach services for not only Priority Partners members, but also local community residents. CHAs serve their communities by offering a variety of health-related educational classes for adults and children and supporting other community events.
Priority Partners CHA Lisa Moran recently participated in a drive thru Food Drop event on Feb. 25 in Allegany County. Priority Partners sponsored the event with the Maryland Food Bank and the Flintstone UMC Church in Flintstone, MD, a small rural area outside of Cumberland. We helped give out 200 boxes of food and served more than 400 people in the community.
“We saw in two hours the need for food in this community,” Lisa said. “I was so glad to be a part of this access to food event.”
Priority Partners also participated in a Community Baby Shower, hosted by the Baltimore County Department of Health, and the CHAs continue to hold a variety of programs on health and socioeconomic topics.
