Johns Hopkins Medicine honored Magda Abdelmagid, as a recipient of the prestigious Baker-King Award at the Johns Hopkins 2022 Service Awards Celebration. Presented every year, the Baker-King Award recognizes employees in non-exempt, non-supervisory positions who have been truly outstanding in the performance of their duties and thereby set an example for all.

Working as Administrative Specialist III in JHHC’s Quality department, Abdelmagid was nominated by Joellyn Norrie, Sr. Director of QI, who says of her, “Magda is an exceptional employee who… leads by example and consistently goes above and beyond.” Among her varied duties, she has been instrumental in handling the complexities of onboarding, reconciling payables, monitoring SharePoint projects and performing a range of administrative duties. Magda’s expertise and knowledge spans the Quality department across key areas within the organization, making her the “go to” person with virtually every staff question.

“Simply put, Magda is delightful to work with!” proclaims Norrie, further asserting that, “She displays the utmost respect and collegiality with staff and embraces diversity inclusion in all that she does. Magda truly cares about her colleagues and values these relationships.”

As part of the award, Abdelmagid received a $100 bonus, a Baker-King pin and a certificate signed by Johns Hopkins Medicine leadership.

Created in 1962 by Dr. and Mrs. Theodore King, the Baker-King Award was established to recognize the significant contributions of all hospital employees. Mrs. King, whose maiden name was Baker, believed it was important to acknowledge non-supervisory staff. Baker-King honorees are nominated by their managers and supervisors based on their consistent demonstration of outstanding service according to our core values: leadership, integrity, respect and collegiality.

Note: Effective July 10, 2023, Johns Hopkins HealthCare is now Johns Hopkins Health Plans.
