JPHolland
J.P. Holland
President and Chief Executive Officer

As President & CEO, J.P. Holland is responsible for the strategy and business results for Johns Hopkins HealthCare, in support of the over 700,000 lives served across Medicaid, Medicare, employer group, military health, and health solutions. Prior to joining JHHC in 2019, Mr. Holland served in managed care leadership roles at Anthem, Amerigroup, and WellCare. Earlier in his career, Mr. Holland worked as a management consultant and served in the U.S. Navy as a pilot. He earned his B.S. in economics from the U.S. Naval Academy and his M.B.A. from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He enjoys outdoor activities, boating, and spending time with his family in Annapolis.

 

Kathleen Bennetty
Kathleen Bennett
Vice President, Information Technology

Kathleen Bennett brings over 15 years of progressive experience as an IT business leader in a range of business structures and organizations including Wellcare, Boston Medical Center, Geisinger Health System and Innovage, where she most recently served as Chief Information Officer. In addition to providing expert technology vision and leadership in the development and implementation of JHHC's IT program, Kathleen will lead the planning and implementation of the organization's enterprise information systems to support business operations and achieve more effective and cost-beneficial IT operations.

Kathleen’s broad experience aligning and leveraging technology in the health care industry across provider, payer, home health/care and senior health services domains gives JHHC the leadership capabilities to exploit our technology resources to improve quality, patient satisfaction and profitability.

 

DanChojnowski
Dan Chojnowski
Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

As Senior Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer, Dan Chojnowski provides executive leadership, vision and financial competencies in support of Johns Hopkins HealthCare (JHHC). He organizes and directs the financial operations of JHHC including budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, revenue management, actuarial, medical economics and clinical analytics. In addition to managing financial operations and functions, Mr. Chojnowski is responsible for defining, articulating and addressing the organization's current and future financial needs and opportunities.

Mr. Chojnowski has over 20 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting. Prior to joining JHHC, he was the Corporate Controller, Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer for Martin's Point HealthCare. Mr. Chojnowski began his career in public accounting where he led financial audits of health care and not-for-profit organizations and financial institutions. Mr. Chojnowski holds an MS in Accounting and a BS in Business Administration, both from the University of New Hampshire.

 

Mary Cooke

 

Mary H. Cooke, DHA
Vice President, US Family Health Plan

As Vice President of the Uniformed Services Family Health Plan, Mary leads a capitated military health plan sponsored by the Department of Defense. Serving military retirees and active duty family members residing in Maryland, Virginia, and surrounding states, Mary is responsible for health plan financing, contract administration, negotiation, and strategy. She also leads strategic partnerships between the Defense Health Agency and Johns Hopkins Medicine.

Dr. Cooke has held progressive leadership positions in the health care industry for more than 30 years, with two decades of expertise in military health care. Her career encompasses leadership roles in emergency care, quality and risk management, and health care delivery. She served as both Chairman and Member of the US Family Health Plan Alliance LLC Board of Directors for more than a decade.

Dr. Cooke holds a Master of Science (Health Policy & Administration) and Doctor of Health Administration from Central Michigan University where she received the College of Graduate Studies’ Award for Exemplary Scholarship.

 

Paul Gillan
Paul A. Gillan
Practice Group Leader and Chief Legal Counsel

Paul Gillan is responsible for providing legal support to the managed care and population health efforts of Johns Hopkins Medicine, including providing primary support to Johns Hopkins HealthCare and the health plans it manages.

Mr. Gillan is a graduate of Princeton University and a cum laude graduate of the University of Baltimore School of Law. He has practiced health law exclusively since 1996 and has dealt extensively and in-depth with both payor and provider legal issues. His experience includes representing hospitals, health systems and other health care providers during his 13 years in private practice, in addition to eight years in-house at a nationally ranked regional health plan. 

 

Ed Kumian
Ed Kumian
CEO, Priority Partners

Ed Kumian has the responsibility for oversight of over 290,000 Medicaid members across all counties within Maryland. While Mr. Kumian has been with Johns Hopkins HealthCare primarily in the capacity as CFO of Priority Partners for 15 years, he has recently been promoted to the role of CEO. In the capacity as CEO, Mr. Kumian has led the organization through a strategic planning process and helped start the Maryland Medicaid Managed Care Association which pulls together all eight of the Maryland Medicaid MCOs for purposes of working with the Maryland Department of Health on rate and operational issues.

Prior to joining Johns Hopkins Health Care, Mr. Kumian worked as a consultant with KPMG and PwC where he provided consulting services to Priority Partners and helped set up its original provider contracts. Mr. Kumian received his bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from the University of Delaware.

 

Ryan O'Donnell
Ryan O'Donnell
Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer

As COO, Ryan O'Donnell leads JHHC’s operations, including sales and marketing, customer service, claims, network management and value based care, IT, facilities and other areas. Ryan and the operations division enable JHHC’s commitment to providing access to high quality, cost effective health care and improving the well-being of our members and communities.

Ryan's leadership experience includes strategy, operations, IT and market-facing roles across multiple aspects of the health care industry, including health insurance, integrated delivery systems, pharmacy benefit manager (PBM) and electronic health record implementations. Prior to joining JHHC, Ryan spent 13 years in leadership roles at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts. Most recently, he was the senior vice president of customer service and pharmacy benefit manager (PBM) implementation at BCBSMA, which serves 2.9 million members. He has also help positions at Henry Ford Health System and CGI Inc. Healthcare Solutions Group.

 

Craig Williams

Vice President, Health Care Innovation and Management Solutions

As Vice President of Health Care Innovation and Management Solutions, Craig is responsible for leading a business unit that brings together Johns Hopkins HealthCare Solutions and Venture businesses to form a single platform that partners with Johns Hopkins faculty to advance applied solutions to meet health care challenges in the marketplace. As Special Advisor to the President of Johns Hopkins University, Dr. Williams supports the University's role in the economic transformation of Baltimore and Maryland.

Prior to joining Johns Hopkins in 2016, Dr. Williams served two Governors of Maryland and a U.S. Representative. His roles included responsibility for state and federal health care policy innovation, administration, and financing. Dr. Williams also worked for Amgen, Inc., serving for eight years as Director of Policy.

Dr. Williams earned his Bachelor of Arts (English & Political Science) from Bethany College, WV. He earned his Master of Arts and Ph.D. from the University of Oklahoma (Political Science). 

 

Dr. Marketa Wills
Dr. Marketa Wills
Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Marketa Wills enables JHHC to optimize clinical and quality outcomes for health plan members while efficiently managing costs of care. Marketa oversees Pharmacy, Utilization Management, Office of Medical Directors, Care Management, and Quality Improvement departments, and other areas of medical management and health services. She helps to set and manage medical policies and standards for health care services provided to plan members, collaborates with fellow JHHC leaders to develop and implement plans and objectives for growth, and focuses on the health plans' work to foster collaboration and innovation in achieving member centered, high quality and efficient care.

Marketa previously served as senior medical director for WellCare Health Plans. Marketa has also previously worked at McKinsey & Co., where she served a broad range of health insurance and provider clients on a variety of strategic and operational engagements. She holds an MD from University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, an MBA in Finance & Healthcare Management from the Wharton School of University of Pennsylvania, and is a practicing psychiatrist. 

 

Marja Wilson
Marja L. Wilson, MHA, MBA
CEO, Hopkins Health Advantage

Marja L. Wilson leads the Hopkins Health Advantage (HHA) Medicare Advantage program. In this role she has the responsibility for the program’s overall strategy, growth and P&L performance. Ms. Wilson oversees the alignment and delivery of new products, service expansions, , operational plan functions and overall administration of the Medicare advantage program.

Ms. Wilson has held progressive leadership positions in the industry for more than 25 years and has served in two large BlueCross BlueShield organizations prior to joining JHHC. As the Vice President of Government Programs for Cambia Health Solutions, she led the regional development of product strategy and performance oversight of their Medicare programs covering WA, OR, ID and UT. Before moving to the Northwest, Ms. Wilson was part of Highmark’s executive leadership in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Outside of the health insurance experience, Ms. Wilson served as a Principle of W2Health consulting. She holds a Bachelor of Arts (Economics, Politics and Philosophy with a certificate in Russian and East European Studies) from University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Master of Business Administration from Katz Graduate School of Business; and Master of Health Administration from Graduate School of Public Health University of Pittsburgh.
