Multidisciplinary Cardiac Care

Our new pediatric cardiac intensive care unit (PCICU) provides the highest quality comprehensive, multidisciplinary cardiac care for patients with congenital and acquired heart disease — including all forms of cardiomyopathy from birth through early adulthood.

We offer:

  • Coordinated care from fetal diagnosis
  • A dedicated team of nine cardiac intensivists, two cardiac surgeons, 10 cardiologists and six cardiac nurse practitioners
  • A dedicated cardiac anesthesia team
  • A cardiac ECMO program
  • A cardiac imaging program, including CT and MRI
  • A temporary and permanent ventricular assist device program
  • An electrophysiology ablation and pacemaker program
  • Pre-operative and postoperative management

Adults with congenital heart disease are co-managed with pediatric cardiologists so they can receive lifetime cardiac care within Johns Hopkins Medicine.

Our Team

Our team of pediatric cardiac critical care practitioners provide a complete range of general and specialized cardiac critical care services for infants, children, adolescents and young adults with congenital and acquired heart disease.
