About Us

The Emerge Gender & Sexuality Clinic for children, adolescents & young adults is part of the Center for Adolescents and Young Adult Health at the Johns Hopkins Harriet Lane Clinic, and works in partnership with the Center for Transgender Health.

Our Goal

Our goal is to improve the health and well-being of gender variant, gender non-conforming and transgender youth and young adults. We strive to do this through offering fully integrated and interdisciplinary expertise and clinical services in pediatrics, adolescent and young adult medicine, endocrinology, nursing, social work, child and adolescent psychiatry, and mental health care.

Who We Serve

Through a collaborative relationship with endocrinology and psychiatry, we work to provide comprehensive services for all youth. Clinical services are available for children, adolescents and young adults 5-25 years old. Our services include education, family and individual support, pubertal blockade, cross-hormone therapy, and mental health support and treatment. The clinic additionally provides referrals for gender affirmation surgery for individuals 18 and over, according to the Johns Hopkins Center for Transgender Health guidelines.
