B’More Fit for Kids

woman and child

B’More Fit for Kids is a resident-run collaboration between residency programs in Baltimore (JH Peds, UM Peds, Sinai Peds, and Franklin Square FP) and a community partner – B’More Fit (BMF). BMF is a program of the Baltimore City Health Department that aims to reduce maternal obesity in Baltimore. BMF provides weekly weight loss classes for women of childbearing age on government assistance, and also provides childcare and transportation. B’More Fit for Kids provides a synchronous curriculum on healthy eating and exercise for the children while they are waiting during the mothers’ classes. B’More Fit for Kids has gotten great feedback from our community partners at BMF and the YMCA, and it has been exciting to watch the children expand their palates for fruits and vegetables!
