Year I

  • Pediatric emergency department: seven blocks
  • Pediatric critical care: one block
  • Pediatric anesthesia: one block
  • Trauma: one block (away rotation at the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center at the University of Maryland)
  • EMS/research: one block
  • Elective/research: one block

Year II

  • Pediatric emergency department: seven blocks
  • Adult emergency medicine: one block
  • Toxicology: one block (away rotation at University of Maryland, Maryland Poison Center)
  • Elective/research: two blocks
  • Child abuse: one block

Year III

  • Pediatric emergency department/research: six blocks
  • Elective/research: four blocks
  • Adult emergency medicine: two blocks (at least one at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center)

Point-of-care ultrasound training is composed of didactics, hands-on training and simulation training that is incorporated into emergency department blocks during all three years of training.

Fellow is allowed four weeks of vacation time per year, to be used during pediatric emergency department blocks with shift reduction.
