Overview
Bermuda Hospitals Board manages Bermuda’s hospitals and has overall responsibility for delivering health services in the country. It provides acute care, chronic care, long-term care, and learning disability, substance abuse and mental health services to the people of Bermuda. The board delivers services from the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, a continuing care unit, Mid-Atlantic Wellness Institute, Lamb Foggo Urgent Care Centre, as well as in various group home and community settings. In total, Bermuda Hospitals Board has 370 beds and about 1,600 employees.
About Our Agreement
Bermuda Hospitals Board and Johns Hopkins Medicine International signed a two-year agreement, effective May 2019, and later agreed to extend the collaboration for an additional year, through April 2022. Under this agreement, Johns Hopkins provides Bermuda Hospitals Board with:
- Educational opportunities and support of Bermuda Hospitals Board’s clinical medical education program
- Policies and guidelines to facilitate greater standardization of clinical pathways within Bermuda Hospitals Board
- Benchmarking data and shared best practices
- Visits by Johns Hopkins subject matter experts and a targeted program for island providers to earn continuing medical education credits
- Support to strengthen clinical activities in stroke, rehabilitation, critical care and psychiatry
- Johns Hopkins resident rotation program in Bermuda
- Ad hoc consulting in several areas, including patient financial services and peer review
