Overview

Hospital Moinhos de Vento opened in 1927 and is now one of the most highly regarded health institutions in Brazil. Located in Porto Alegre, the hospital has centers of excellence in neurology and neurosurgery, cardiology, traumatology, oncology, mother-child care, pediatrics, nephrology and respiratory medicine.

About Our Agreement

Johns Hopkins Medicine International and Hospital Moinhos de Vento — Johns Hopkins’ first Brazilian affiliation — signed a 10-year agreement in August 2013. Johns Hopkins’ support includes:

  • Developing and strengthening clinical specialties, as well as quality and patient safety programs
  • Consulting toward receiving Magnet recognition for nursing excellence
  • Research and academic programs, including residency preceptor development, complex case discussions and joint research initiatives
  • Facilitating Hospital Moinhos de Vento resident rotations in specialties such as neurology, pediatrics, internal medicine, cardiology and intensive care
