The Johns Hopkins Division of Infectious Diseases operates a number of internationally recognized centers that further their innovative research, with the end goals of increased scientific knowledge and improved patient care. Our investigators work collaboratively with others in the Johns Hopkins community and with other investigators in the United States and internationally.
Our areas of scientific interest range from basic laboratory research to conducting clinical trials. The Division is actively developing effective vaccines and treatments to combat the spread of infectious diseases and to improve clinical care.
A new cross-cutting focus, entitled Precision ID, represents a coordinated approach to harness expanding electronic medical information and computational capabilities to improve patient care. Centered in ID and spanning the health system, this initiative will provide the evidence to tailor preventative, diagnostic, and therapeutic interventions.
