The Johns Hopkins Division of Infectious Diseases works to prevent and to treat illness, disability and death caused by infectious diseases. In the past three decades, the HIV pandemic and its fellow travelers, tuberculosis, hepatitis C and sexually transmitted diseases have been among the biggest challenges. On a more local level, infections such as pneumonia or meningitis may cause severe illness or infections may complicate hospitalizations or surgeries. There are several Johns Hopkins Infectious Diseases clinics throughout Maryland. In most cases, a physician referral is required for outpatient evaluation. Please check with the clinic staff when you call for an appointment.
Patients receiving care in one of the Johns Hopkins Infectious Diseases outpatient clinics will receive services applicable to their situation and could include some of the following:

Volunteer for Research
Our Division operates a number of internationally recognized centers that further innovative research, with the goal of improving patient care. Our investigators work collaboratively with others in the Johns Hopkins community and with other investigators in the United States and internationally.
A number of clinical trials are dependent on volunteers to study diseases and develop treatments. We invite you to explore opportunities to help us with our research efforts. We could not do clinical research without your help.
Volunteer NowTrials@Hopkins provides a list of most studies and trials taking place at Johns Hopkins, currently seeking volunteer participants.
