Clinical Care Providers and Program Staff
Program History
The Johns Hopkins HIV Service County Program was established in 1994 after the HIV epidemic had escalated to the Baltimore metropolitan suburbs, creating a burden for local health departments transporting patients to Baltimore City to engage care. Ryan White funding was established for medical providers to travel to suburban health departments to provide onsite HIV subspecialty care in collaboration with local health department case management. In 1997 at the request of Maryland Department of Health, this service was extended to the rural western and eastern regions of Maryland to provide HIV consultative services.
